Center and Authority

Under the Commission, there are two Centers, one Authority and one Office

The National Scientific Equipment Center (NSEC) was established in 1986 was aimed at providing the required technical backup for the numerous nascent research and other scientific institutions. In 1986 a Swedish expert working for SAREC conducted feasibility study (for the maintenance and service repair of scientific equipment and related training). The study was conducted in collaboration with the Ethiopian Science and Technology Commission (ESTC) and recommended the setting up of a scientific Equipment Center on a national level. This was approved by the Ethiopian government and as a result the National Scientific Equipment Center (NSEC) was established under the ESTC. For more Click here

The Ethiopian Cleaner Production Center (ECPC), established in April 2000, is part of the world wide UNIDO/UNEP National Cleaner Production Centers network. The future picture is the existence of a network of institutions and individuals, whose major focal point is ECPC and committed to the promotion of cleaner production. For more click here

The National Radiation Protection Authority (NRPA). In order to establish the legal and organizational basis for the national regulatory infrastructure governing protection against ionizing radiation and the safety of radiation sources, the government of Ethiopia issued the Radiation Protection proclamation No.79/1993 which thereby established the National Radiation Protection Authority (NRPA) as an autonomous public authority having its own legal personality.
