Science and Technology Information Department

Organization
The Department is one of the six departments organized under the commission composed of four teams namely,

  • User’s service team
  • Acquisition team
  • Information organization and Data Processing team
  • Computer systems and services team

Objectives:
Science and Technology Information Department strives to support the Research and Development activities of the Commission. In order to accomplish its work the Department has the following objectives:

  • Advise the Commission on computer technology and information systems and services;
  • Promote and support the wider use and build up of institutional capabilities in the areas of efficient utilization & development of information systems and services, computer hardware and software, training, consultancy and data communication;
  • Collect, process, analyze, and organize information sources on science and technology areas so as to provide library and information services;
  • Support and promote the development of national and sect oral applications and content development and activities.
  • Develop, strengthen and coordinate science and technology information systems and network to ensure information resource sharing;
  • Initiate, support, and promote research and development in computer and information science and technology; undertake research in areas that are not addressed by others as deemed necessary.
