CALL FOR BIO-EARN INNOVATION FUND CONCEPT NOTES

The Eastern African Regional Programme and Research Network for Biotechnology, Biosafety and Biotechnology Policy Development (BIO-EARN), represents a joint effort between Sida/SAREC and the four Eastern African countries; Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, to strengthen these countries in meeting the challenges of modern biotechnology and realizing the potential of the associated techniques under local conditions.

The BIO-EARN IF through its “Innovation Fund” (IF) will beginning January 2008, support, high quality biotechnological projects of high regional importance and strong relevance to the ongoing Programme activities. The support will be awarded on a competitive basis and projects are expected to run for a period of 2 years.

The Ethiopian Science and Technology Agency in collaboration with BIO-EARN Regional Coordination Office, is happy to announce the BIO-EARN Innovation Fund and invites eligible teams to submit for consideration project concept notes for support by the BIO-EARN IF. Complete concept notes (electronic and hard copies) should reach to the Ethiopian Science and Technology Agency BIO-EARN Ethiopia Office (Industry Department) latest by 5pm, June 20, 2007. Concept notes submitted/received later shall not be accepted.
